Fall Classic Final Game Captures 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting 11-inning contest that saw the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined over 50 million viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball announced this marks the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable contest averaged 27.33M viewers on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 final game between the Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game ranked 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th position.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English program in the country since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – recorded over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series drew over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership increases for two consecutive years.

Including the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the total American average was 16.1 million. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and the network’s best playoff performance after the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
